Departing from the port of Kythira we will sail to the exotic Elafonissos.
Elafonissos owes its current name to the Greek word for a deer – elafi. In ancient times, the area was a hunting ground. As mentioned by Pausanias, a large number of small red deer were found here.
Once a den of pirates and corsairs, Elafonissos will enchant you with its emerald waters. We will make some dives from the boat at the amazing beach of Simos, an exotic strip of land with turquoise waters, white sand dunes and cedars, which ranks as one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. The sight is exotic and reminiscent of the Caribbean. The captain will anchor the boat as close as possible to the beach so you can dive and, if you so wish, swim to the beach and enjoy some time relaxing on the white sand or sunbeds.
After a stay of three hours, we will get back on board and sail to Elafonissos village. The population of Elafonissos, which numbers around 1,000 in winter, almost doubles in summer. The island is a magnet for tourists from all over the world and in the summer, it is full of life.
We will anchor at the village port and have the chance to wander through the picturesque alleys, where shops and cafes await.
Return
After 1.5 hours we will get back on board to return to Kythira where our excursion ends.
