Morning departure from the port of Kythira (Diakofti or Kapsali – depending on the weather). Our itinerary begins with passing by the rocky island of Prasonisi or Prassou, which is located between Kythira and Antikythera. Weather permitting we will pause for a dive in the crystal-clear waters.
Arrival in Antikythera
Upon our arrival in Antikythera we will embark on a magical journey to a peaceful island which has remained unchanged over time and fascinates visitors with its wild beauty. The island had 45 permanent residents, most of whom live in the village of Potamos, which is also the island’s port and our first stop. Private transportation on the island primarily relies on the private vehicles of local residents, who generously offer their assistance to tourists and guests. We will visit the Temple of Saint Myron, the patron and protector of Antikythera. In the Church of Saint Myron we can admire the icons depicting Christ, the Virgin Mary and Saint Myron, which are made of pure silver. The island’s holiest relic is also kept here: the icon of Saint Myron, found in Antikythera by Cretans, when the island was deserted.
On our return journey, we will call at Camarela, one of the most impressive parts of the island, with blue-green crystal-clear waters and steep rocks rising out the sea. After a short photo stop we will return to Potamos, the port of Antikythera
We recommend that you take a brief dip at the small port beach or visit one of the island’s traditional taverns and grocery stores to taste the typical traditional dish of Antikythera, the delicious wild goat! Before leaving Antikythera, we will gaze at the sea, at the harbour mouth, the site of the wreck of Antikythera where the famous Antikythera mechanism was found. Imbued with a feeling of infinite peace and tranquillity we will then board the boat for the return journey to Kythira where our excursion ends.
